Tasks and assignments for Graphic design 1

The second half of module 1 was dominated by the module assignment and Photoshop.

The module assignment was very fun, and I got useful feedback on forum that will help me develop (at least) one design for the course assignment. I have another idea for the final book cover that I am working on, but I did not use it for this module as it is less obviously about the number seven.

I like the second option the best, and forum agrees. If I did it again, I would have the colour on the seven stand out more. I think the third option is quite good too, but it is less appropriate for the upcoming book cover as it is now. I think it can work if I add more shapes and change the colors. I will experiment with it.

I thought the photoshop assignments were hard. I still find the program confusing, but I think it is a lot of fun. It makes more and more sense, but I am not 100 % happy with the pictures I have made so far. It takes me a really really long time to finish the tutorials. But it keeps getting better!

The other lesson tasks were very useful in practicing the gestalt principles. I found the readings for this module interesting and it has me studying all the websites i encounter. Surfing takes much longer now…

Other things on my mind this week:

To prepare for my upcoming digital drawing class, i started experimenting with Procreate. Fun.

I have changed the design on this blog. I am not happy with it, but I think it’s better than it was, and it feels like good practice.

I bought this book of Japanese monsters as illustration inspiration, and it is super cool.
